The city of Stirling is located only a short drive northwest of Edinburgh, or to the northeast of Glasgow. This makes it an ideal day trip destination from both cities, or a nice stop-over if you鈥檙e heading to the Highlands to drive along the NC500.
Stirling is located in central Scotland just 26 miles northeast of Glasgow and 37 miles northwest of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. It is sometimes referred to as the 鈥楪uardian of the Highlands鈥� thanks to its location on the crossing point of the River Forth.
The city has a long history, proof of which can be found in the stone cist and skeleton that were found in 1879. They apparently date back to at least 2000 BC.
