Wondering whether it’s visiting Udon Thani, a city in northeast Thailand that you don’t hear too much about? Well, that’s perfectly understandable, given that you don’t hear much about it compared to other Thai cities.

While it may sit in a part of Thailand that tourists don’t regularly explore, Udon Thani benefits from this location by serving as a convenient stop between Bangkok and Vientiane. At least, that’s what drew me to visit. Here’s my take on whether there are things to do in Udon Thani and whether you should take the time to go yourself.

If you don’t fall into one (or more) of the above categories, Udon Thani doesn’t make sense to visit.

Udon Thani is located in the northeast of Thailand, a long way from the country’s most popular destinations.

And yet, it’s not that hard to get to Udon Thani. That’s because the city sits on the train line running from Bangkok and Ayutthaya towards Nong Khai at the Laos Border.
