As we awoke to the gentle patter of rain on the windows, we knew our dreams of a beach sunrise in Pondicherry had to wait. The monsoon season had veiled the sunrise in gray clouds, but we embraced the tranquility it brought.

To begin our day, we opted for the comforts of the hotel and found solace in the terrace pool, offering breathtaking views of the city and the Bay of Bengal. While witnessing the sunrise was on our Pondicherry to-do list, nature had other plans, concealing the sun behind a curtain of raindrops.

Eager to explore Pondicherry’s charming streets, we decided to rent a two-wheeler, a choice inspired by the exorbitant auto-rickshaw prices we encountered the previous day. Our hotel recommended a reliable rental service, and in no time, we were handed the keys to a Honda Dio for the next three days.

After a refreshing swim, we indulged in a delicious breakfast and a brief rest. Later, we set out for lunch at the iconic Cafe des Arts, located in the White Town, taking a detour to visit a couple of churches, though they were closed during the afternoon. ......
