
A Guide to Jomtien in Pattaya, Pattaya, Thailand
Located immediately south of downtown Pattaya, the quieter suburb of Jomtien has a significant population of expats and relatively less developed beaches, making it a quieter alternative to staying in the downtown.
Additionally, Jomtien also has a marina area that serves as a launching point to Koh Phai, Koh Rin and Koh Ling. All three islands are worthy destinations in their own right, and I enjoy them even more than the two islands of Koh Sak and Koh Larn which are visited from downtown Pattaya.
Perched at the top of the Pratamnak Hill, Wat Phra Yai is also more famously known as the Big Buddha Hill. The statue of the top of the hill measures a total of 18 metres in height. As you are visiting a temple, please do come in respectful dresses and not while you are not under the influence.
A lovely cafe just next to the main bus station that connects Pattaya to the airport. The decoration is pleasantly done and the coffee is delicious!
Jomtien has a little bit of a reputation for being an LGBTQ++ destination, and this is the main area where the LGBTQ++ nightlife is centered in. It is also one of the main walking streets which connect the main road into the main beaches of Jomtien. I only passed by during the daytime on the way to the airport and did not visit any of the places, but I included into this guide because it does have a high concentration of eateries so if you are LGBTQ-friendly, this can be a place to unwind in between your beach breaks. ......
