Circulo de Amistad XII de Enero (Circle of Friendship XII of January), Santa Cruz de Tenerife

The Circle of Friendship XII of January is a civil building designed by Mariano Estanga and Arias-Girón, erected in the early 20th century as the permanent headquarters of a fraternal society founded in 1855. Showcasing Second Empire architectural language, it combines three main floors with two corner towers topped by mansard roofs.

The façade presents a symmetrically composed elevation: the ground floor features a refined rustication, while the upper levels are richly ornamented with balconies supported by balusters, metal candelabra from Seville, and sculptural groups crafted by Teodomiro Robayna and Eduardo Tarquis.

Internally, the building houses an imperial marble staircase leading to a ballroom inaugurated in 1919 to celebrate the end of the First World War. Over the decades, spaces such as a summer terrace, theatre for 500 seats, exhibition hall, library containing over 15 000 volumes, and recreational rooms for games like billiards and chess have been added. The building continues as a venue for concerts, exhibitions, conferences and social gatherings.
